COMMENTS
When Nick Mason made comments in Italy about heading out to small venues, to play early Pink Floyd songs, few took the remarks seriously. As unlikely as it seemed, Nick was entirely truthful and in the initial announcement a set of four shows in London were announced for his new band. Due to the critical success of those shows, held in small venues in Camden and Putney, a full European tour has been announced with this date one part of this.
Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets brings together some familiar names, all great musicians: joining Nick are Gary Kemp and Lee Harris on guitars, Guy Pratt on bass, and Dom Beken on keyboards. Kemp is best known for his work with Spandau Ballet, Harris as having played guitar with The Blockheads (Ian Dury's band), Pratt needs no introduction, and Beken is principally known for his work with The Orb, and Transit Kings (with Pratt). The band will be playing early Pink Floyd songs.
This is a unique opportunity to experience Pink Floyd's celebrated and significant early body of work played live including songs from albums 'The Piper At The Gates of Dawn' and 'A Saucerful Of Secrets'.
The regular sale of tickets started on FRIDAY, MAY 25th at 9am (UK time), via Eventim.de.

Back in Germany for a further five shows in the country, starting with tonight, in Dusseldorf. A great performance, and very well received.
For this latest show on the tour, during his initial thanks and welcome to the audience, Nick said: "As you may know, we are not the Australian Roger Waters, nor the Danish David Gilmour. We are Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets! We're very pleased to be here; we're having a fantastic time doing this show, and I'm very pleased to be back here. I don't know if any of you were here when we last played here, which was something like '71 or '72. I have to tell you, don't worry if you don't remember, because I don't! If you WERE here, you might have heard some of the songs we're going to play but again, the chances of you remembering the songs... they should be all fresh and new tonight, so we'll carry on..."
Certainly that sense of fun and enjoyment comes across so clearly in the performances. Definitely a show to catch if you can!
The band now travel to Dusseldorf in Germany for the show there tomorrow, before having a well-earned day off on Wednesday.
We'd love to know from those attending how they felt the concert went. How was the show for you, if you were one of the fortunate ones to attend? Let us know what YOU thought!
CONCERT REVIEW and PICTURES by BD CONTRIBUTOR, Vincent van Rens
Yesterday I was at the Dusseldorf concert.
It was again (after Amsterdam last week) a great concert. In comparison with the Amsterdam Carre concert It feels to me that the band is still growing more and more together. The audience was more active, so the atmosphere in the Mitshubishi Electric Halle was great. The band was having fun, the sound was good.
Some words from Nick during the show, before starting If: "Vegetable Man was actually a track that never actually made it onto a record; it was designed to go on Saucerful of Secrets and never got finished. It is a song that I think it was probably ...certainly never performed by Pink Floyd so .... The man who really made this whole thing possible, without him there wouldn't be any of this music and that is Syd Barrett." That brought big applause from the audience, and then he introduced his 4 personal heroes (the band) and then said: "There's one more group we would like to thank tonight, tonight is our fourth show in a run...we're still enjoying it absolutely as much as the first night and in my case playing 52 years ago or something like that, just as much fun that, but [...applause...] but a small group of people makes this possible and that's our crew" - big applause from the band and audience.
Pink Floyd is on the Wall of Fame of the Hall. Nick was telling us about them playing there in '71 or '72, some internet searching later I found Pink Floyd played 4-6-1971 and 14-11-1972, Philips Veranstaltungshalle Dusseldorf (the old name of the Mitsubishi Electric Hall).
YOUR HELP NEEDED! We want to cover Nick's concerts the best we can, to share the experience with everyone, especially those who won't be able to attend the shows. We'd love to see ANY pictures, tickets scans, reviews, newspaper reports, and anything else you come across for this show - we look forward to hearing from you!
