Syd BarrettOne of (many) highlights for attendees of the 2008 Syd Barrett "City Wakes" Festival in Cambridge were the guided tour of the city that took in many of the more significant sites which were connected to the life and times of Syd, and the various bands which lead to Pink Floyd. Since then, the people behind the tour - friends of Syd, who grew up with him - have run their own special tours of Cambridge, to much acclaim.

They've now partnered with Brain Damage for a very special pair of tours, inviting you to discover some of Syd's 1960s Cambridge through the unique memories of those who knew him best, and who still live in the city.

Your guides will take you around the city centre with as many stories and anecdotes that their memories will allow. It will be unscripted, and largely unrehearsed. Your guides may even disagree over some things. The number of people who come back for subsequent tours gives an idea of how much fun they are, and how fascinating the memories are.

The tour dates which have been arranged are July 17th, and September 11th (both Saturdays). There will be 15 places on each tour and the cost will be £15.00 per person. We'll also be there on the July tour, so if you're coming, make sure you say hello! Please This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , the chief guide, to book your place(s) on your chosen date. After he confirms your place, he will then trust you to turn up on the day and pay then. Warren said "Let's bring a little trust into this cynical world!"

All tours meet at the front of the Guildhall, Market Square and start at 10.30am, so if you will be travelling to Cambridge, make sure you give yourself enough time so that you don't miss the start. The tours are meant to last about two hours but in reality it's nearer three hours (or more), as the memories and stories start flowing.

Don't miss this great opportunity to discover Syd's city. For more information on the tours, the guides, and what to expect, visit their website which is www.I-SpySydInCambridge.com.
