Prog issue 88The new issue of the UK's Prog Magazine (issue 88) appears in stores across the country on Thursday, and as you'll notice from the striking cover, has a focus on Pink Floyd's 1983 album, the final one to include Roger Waters.

The cover story is all about the making of The Final Cut and how the album shaped the future for both Floyd and Roger Waters ever since. The ten-page feature is a detailed and fascinating look at the project, and includes historical interview material with Roger, David Gilmour, keyboard player Andy Bown, engineer Andy Jackson, and photographer Willie Christie, who explains how the "video EP" came about for The Final Cut.

There's also a two-page chat with Roger about his current run of live dates in Europe, plans for filming the shows, and other things he is working on (this piece is adapted from a longer interview with Dutch radio station NPO Radio 2, which we mentioned back in April).

Elsewhere in the magazine, there's a page and a half looking at Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, including a great, full page review of the recent Dingwalls concert, the band's first ever public appearance.

The issue comes in a bag with a ten track CD, two free early Marillion posters and a copy of the Be Prog! My Friend festival programme. The magazine also includes interviews with Klaus Schulze, David Cross & David Jackson, Traffic, Spock's Beard, The Sea Within, Arena, Temples On Mars, Arjen Lucassen, The Decemberists, Lunatic Soul and more...

You can purchase Prog Magazine, either as single issues or as a subscription, in the UK and also internationally through this direct link. Prog is also available on iPad, Google Play, Kindle and Nook.
