The latest issue (cover date November 2009; click thumbnail to the left) of the UK's Uncut magazine has an absorbing, four-page scoot back some 38 years to one of Pink Floyd's more notable early shows - the open air concert at the Crystal Palace Bowl on May 15th, 1971. The venue, in South London, featured a lake in front of the stage, that the Floyd (being the Floyd) decided to put a huge inflatable octopus in!
With a wide array of great pictures of the day by Robert Ellis, and the dual memories of Robert and Nigel Williamson, it's a fascinating look at what turned out to be a rainy, storm-hit event that was one of the first live outings for Echoes.
The magazine is in UK stores now, and will be available in selected countries worldwide as an import. More info at www.Uncut.co.uk.
