Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

We now know that Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are on their way, with the releases on May 2nd, and the cinema screenings shortly before. NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

Pink Floyd go postal in new Royal Mail stamp issue Print E-mail

Pink Floyd 2010 stampAs most countries postal services do, the British Royal Mail regularly issue special design stamps. Just announced (and detailed on the Norvic Philatelics website) is the first of their special sets for 2010. "The Design Classics: Classic Album Covers" will appear on January 7th, and includes Pink Floyd's Division Bell amongst the ten sleeves chosen.

Many of the most significant graphic designers of the last 40 years are represented by this selection of iconic covers. Taking a starting point of surveys and polls of favourite album covers, editors of three major UK music publications together with a number of graphic designers and design writers came up with a short list. That list was further pruned as some images proved unsuitable for use.

The stamp will be available individually, and in the form of collections of all the stamps. There will also be a "First Day Cover" for the edition, too.

The full list of albums included are as follows:

  • The Division Bell – Pink Floyd;
  • A Rush of Blood to the Head - Coldplay;
  • Parklife – Blur;
  • Power Corruption and Lies – New Order;
  • Let It Bleed – The Rolling Stones
  • London Calling – The Clash;
  • Tubular Bells – Mike Oldfield;
  • IV – Led Zeppelin;
  • Screamadelica – Primal Scream;
  • The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars – David Bowie

In terms of presentation of the set, the Royal Mail are doing a pseudo cover for a "Best Of" that includes all the stamps, which are perforated. They are also doing a "Souvenir Sheet" of all ten stamps, looking like the shelves of a typical record collector:
