Nick Mason will be taking part in the 2010 Mille Miglia race in Italy, which is due to starts in Brescia today (May 5th). He will be participating in a 1949 Le Mans Replica [click thumbnail, left], which was built in 1971. Nick is 127th in the list of participants.
The Mille Miglia is a race between Brescia and Rome, and back again, a distance around 1,600 kilometres or a thousand miles, which gives the race its title. First contested back in 1927, it's a historic and prestigious event which attracts much attention worldwide, and limits the number of entrants to 375. This allows the organisers not only to select cars that are the most significant in the context of race history, but also to offer spectators a cavalcade that is almost unique, portraying thirty years of the evolution of motor racing, from 1927 to 1957.
More information on the event can be found at www.1000miglia.eu. Our thanks to Marco Budinis for letting us know about this, and the best of luck to Nick for the event itself.
