The new issue of UK magazine Drummer (issue 97, cover date November 2011) is out now in selected stores. The cover feature is focused on Nick Mason, looking at "A Lifetime with Pink Floyd".
The interview, which takes place over six, nicely illustrated pages, begins with Nick explaining the background behind the Why Pink Floyd reissue, remaster and collector's edition campaign, and looking at future possibilities. "If these releases are a success, we would like to continue the in-depth releases, with the most obvious next release being the early work, because I've got some demos from 1965 which are Syd's songs but with us playing on them. The BBC is also keen to put out some of their recordings, and again, given the new technology where things can be cleaned up, that may be possible."
Nick talks about the band's career, album-by-album, in an interesting wander through the catalogue, and the reader is treated to a few revelations about the making of the albums. The magazine's ordering hotline is on 01884-260897 (+44-1884-260897 outside the UK) where you may be able to get individual copies by mail.
In other Nick Mason news, he was interviewed by the "Tri-State Sports Guys" over the phone on November 2nd, 2011, talking about his racing, the difference between playing in a band vs racing, his favourite Pink Floyd songs to play, and the possibility of a reunion. Their twelve and a half minute interview can be heard here:
