Nick Mason has joined with Rolling Stones members and many others on a charity single released yesterday on iTunes.
On April 25th, a devastating earthquake struck Nepal, claiming more than 7,500 lives and injuring more than 14,500. The UK based humanitarian organisation Save The Children brought together soul singer Beverly Knight and a 100-voice choir made up of members of Save the Children, with Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood added backing vocals and guitar, respectively, for a recording session produced by Nick Mason at London's legendary Abbey Road Studios.
Nick said on his official Facebook page about the single, called 'Save the Children (Look Into Your Heart)', "So pleased this is finally getting a release - it's a great song, that was enormous fun to record. The assembled choir of contributors performed brilliantly (with assistance from Kim Chandler) ensuring the song was already a financial as well as musical success. The Abbey Road crew were magnificent as always, and The All Stars shone... Can't wait to work on the next one!"
All proceeds, distributed via Save the Children’s Nepal earthquake initiative, go to aid the survivors of the tragedy. Beverly Knight said "The terrible events in Nepal show just how vulnerable our fellow man can be in the face of nature. My hope is that the proceeds of this song will go some way to help raise urgently needed funds to repair homes and restore lives."
