Nick Mason has long been a regular at the annual Goodwood Festival Of Speed, held in the heart of the Sussex countryside, and this year's event, which took place last weekend, was no exception.
Each year, the Earl of March, who owns the Goodwood Estate, hosts a gala party on the Saturday evening, for invited guests only, and in 2008, Nick performed alongside Roger Taylor and Kenney Jones. This year, Nick performed again at the festival, and joining Nick on his special Ferrari detailed drumkit on the stage at the rear of Goodwood House were a number of musicians and singers. These included Durga and Lorelei McBroom, who of course sang on the last few Pink Floyd tours, John Illsley (Dire Straits) on bass guitar, and Guy Fletcher (top songwriter, musician and record producer) on keyboards.
Pictures and comments about the performance have appeared over the last few days on Guy Fletcher's Facebook page, as well as on Durga's Facebook page.
In his accompanying notes to the photo, Guy noted that they performed The Great Gig In The Sky and One Of These Days to the lucky ones who were there. Word is that they also performed at least one Dire Straits track but this is unconfirmed. No official recording was made of the event.
