"Syd Barrett: A Very Irregular Head", the upcoming book by Rob Chapman, has received glowing reviews in today's UK press. Published by Faber and Faber on May 6th, 2010, it promises to be "the first authoritative and exhaustively researched biography of Syd Barrett that fully celebrates his life and
legacy as a musician, lyricist and artist, and which highlights the influence that he continues to have over contemporary bands and music fans alike."
With the book running to some 448 pages, and the help of Syd's sister Rosemary, it certainly sounds like there is plenty of information that Chapman has brought together to tell Syd's
story.
Today's Sunday Times called it "a gripping portrait of the final, reclusive years of the charismatic co-founder of Pink Floyd", and The Observer said that it was "a consistently illuminating, and often surprising, read. Syd is a looming presence here, an elusive to the point of spectral figure, who haunts the pages of this, the best book yet about him".
