The new issue of the UK's Mojo Magazine, which is due to hit UK stores on August 23rd, is a real treat for Pink Floyd fans.
It features a whopping 12 page article featuring brand new interviews with David Gilmour and Nick Mason talking to respected author and journalist Mark Blake about the turmoil, indecision and soul searching of mid-70's Floyd. "We were a tough, cruel bunch," admits David Gilmour reflecting on the insane pressure that engulfed the group following the global success of 1973's The Dark Side Of The Moon. Elsewhere in the magazine, Nick Kent revisits the live review that changed the course of the band. Other contributors are Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips, Phil Manzanera and Jim James.
Plus, free with Mojo comes a CD celebrating those landmark albums The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here featuring a selection of contemporary artists covering said masterpieces including The Pineapple Thief, Lia Ices (amongst others) and The Orb turning in their version of Shine On You Crazy Diamond part two. How very apt!
However, for vinyl junkies there's a special limited edition being made available - just 10,000 copies worldwide. This deluxe package features a 12-inch gatefold vinyl version of Return To The Dark Side Of The Moon and a special collectors' cover of the magazine [click thumbnail, left]. It'll be in stores soon (HMV and WHSmith in the UK / Barnes & Noble in the US), but you can order your copy right now through this special link. (Our thanks to Mark Blake and Kev Porter for their help)
