As many of you will be aware - and a number of you will be excitedly waiting for the show you have scarce tickets for - Kate Bush started her set of 22 performances on Tuesday night. The hugely anticipated shows, called “Before The Dawn”, are Kate’s first full performances in 35 years, and are taking place at London’s Hammersmith Apollo.
As expected, rumours quickly spread that David GIlmour - who suggested Kate to EMI, leading to her being signed and given a recording contract - would perform with her during the shows. We've had many emails asking about this. Unfortunately, rumours such as this are easy to start, and don’t rely on any grounding in truth!
For those who are, however, interested in a Floydian connection to the shows, none other than Jon Carin, multi-instrumentalist and a key member of Pink Floyd for their final tours, and more recently, a cornerstone of the Roger Waters and David Gilmour solo bands, is performing with Kate. He has been working with her on the project for 10 months.
It sounds like the work has been worthwhile - reviews of the initial shows have been extremely enthusiastic, and we’ve purposefully avoided any spoilers in this article!
