Guy Pratt's Wake Up CallGuy Pratt, bassist for David Gilmour, and for the post-1987 Pink Floyd (amongst many others), is making his much anticipated return to the stage for a run at the legendary Edinburgh Festival...

It's 4am. The alarm is set for 5. You're in Belgrade... or possibly Buenos Aires. All these hotel rooms look the same... There's a noise coming from the bathroom and only a miniature of Baileys left in the mini bar. No worries you'll sleep on the plane. You hope to hell it's a travel day and that pile of ashes in the corner isn't your passport. Welcome to an average Wednesday in the life of a touring musician. 'Guy Pratt's Wake-up Call' is the next instalment of the bizarre, poignant and often hilarious life of a professional bassist told by a natural raconteur. You'll laugh. You'll cry, you'll probably sue.

The show is being held at Fringe@Le Monde between August 22nd - 30th; click the thumbnail to the left for more details. Tickets are just £5, and we wholeheartedly recommend it!

If you can't make it to Edinburgh, and are in the south of England, you can see a preview of the show at the bizarrely named Hen and Chickens Theatre, Highbury Corner, London on July 13th, and at the Tower Arts Centre in Winchester on July 15th.

If you can't wait that long, you should pick up the new issue of The Word magazine (UK published, cover date August 2010) which has a great two-page guide to "being a sideman to the stars", written by Guy.
