There is concern at the moment over a range of events coming up at New York City's Madison Square Garden, including Roger Waters performing The Wall on Saturday night (November 6th).
The building was closed to the public after a game there on Monday night, when overnight maintenance was undertaken, “which included cleaning asbestos-related materials in the attic above the ceiling, [and] some debris fell into the arena. We will not reopen the Garden until we are absolutely assured the arena is safe,” Garden officials said.
Last night's New York Knicks basketball game was cancelled, and our advice to those of you attending Roger's show, particularly if you are travelling any kind of distance, is to keep checking the venue's website for the latest information - www.TheGarden.com. Hopefully everything will be fine, and the venue will reopen in good time, but it's worth being aware of this possible issue.
UPDATE, Wednesday afternoon: Madison Square Garden is back in business, following tests which revealed a "false alarm" as to the presence of asbestos in the debris that fell during the maintenance. So, Roger's concert will go on as planned - excellent news!
