David Pocock, one of the three winners of our recent Australian Pink Floyd Show concert ticket competition, was at the O2 Arena show in London the other night and got in contact with us to share his thoughts on the event (and the prize!).
As you know, the Aussie Floyd are long-time friends of Brain Damage, having travelled to the UK for their first shows here, kicking things off in style at the first BD International Fan Convention, way back in 1993! They are proving incredibly popular to this day, performing sell-out concerts around the world. David's review, below, shares his view on why this is the case... If you've not seen them yet, tickets for the remaining shows on the UK tour are still available through Ticketmaster.co.uk or Seetickets.com - don't miss out on a show that so many Floyd fans rave about!
As one of the three lucky winners from the recent Brain Damage Australian Pink Floyd Show contest, we were treated to a true spectacle last night at the O2 Arena in London. For the full set list, as I remember it, see below (although my memory does get cloudy...!!). Careful with that Axe was a surprise and, for me, a true high point.
Suffice to say, this band is outstanding and their ability to emulate Pink Floyd throughout the various stages of the Pink Floyd career is incredible. The similarity to Roger's voice is uncanny as is the strength in the guitar, the warmth in the keyboards and backing vocals and the subtlety of the drums. These guys have observed Pink Floyd to the most minuscule detail.
With the dazzling light and laser show, we did not even have to close our eyes to believe that we were seeing the true Pink Floyd. I have seen Pink Floyd (ex Roger) on the Momentary Lapse and Division Bell tours and I have seen Roger 5 times in the last 3 years on his DSOTM tour. This show (nearly) ranks with the real Pink Floyd and Roger shows. Outstanding! If you get a chance, go see this group! Thanks Matt, thanks Brain Damage, thanks CMP for the privilege.
