Many thanks to everyone who has entered our latest competition to win one of five pairs of tickets to attend the final pre-tour rehearsal next week for the Australian Pink Floyd Show's major 2011 European tour. Naturally, we had a lot of entries, some of which from as far afield as Portugal! The tour starts later this month, and thanks to the band and their management we have been able to offer this very special opportunity for some lucky Brain Damage visitors and their guests.
Following a champagne reception, the winners, who are revealed below, will get to be the first to see the Aussie Floyd's new show (including their brand new 3D graphics, the first time in such graphics have been used in a concert setting) and after the show, will have the chance to meet the band.
Following the rehearsal, the tour heads off to Poland for a string of dates there, before hitting the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Norway, before arriving in the UK for the dates listed below. Following the UK dates, the band move on to
France, Switzerland (again!) and Italy. Full details of the dates and venues can be found at www.AussieFloyd.com.
The Australian Pink Floyd Show is a live touring sensation which has sold over three million tickets worldwide, and they have created their most ambitious and spectacular show ever for the 2011 European Tour. This theatre tour will see the debut of the new quadraphonic sound system and represents the first time ever that a live music production has used 3D stereographic technology. The cinema quality 3D visuals have been created by visual effects maestro John Attard, best known for his work on Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. We're intrigued to see how this will work - if it works effectively alongside the music, we
can see others exploring this route!
The 2011 dates see a trio of experts with Floyd credentials onboard. Colin Norfield has worked with TAPFS before and takes over as sound engineer once again. Colin was FOH engineer on Pink Floyd's Division Bell world tour. Since then he has handled live sound for David Gilmour, including working on his 'On An Island' tour. Renowned Production Manager Roger Searle, who also worked on the 'On An Island' tour also joins the 2011 show. Roger will be using the latest cutting edge, state of the art technology to enhance the essential elements of the existing
TAPFS to take this tour to another level. Also joining the team for the 2011 tour is Floyd drummer Nick Mason's drum technician Clive Brooks.
Without further delay, here are the five lucky winners, each of whom can take a guest with them to this special final rehearsal next week:
- Debbie Davis, Maidstone, Kent
- Alex B, London
- Kim Osborne, Ely, Cambridgeshire
- Mark Turpin, Telscombe Cliffs, Sussex
- Mark Stay, Epsom, Surrey
Congratulations to these five, and better luck next time for those who weren't lucky enough to be picked out of the kangaroo's pouch! We should have another competition shortly with some more interesting prizes, so make sure you keep checking out BD!
