No doubt encouraged with the current focus on The Wall, Andy Harries, producer of The Queen and The Damned United, is planning a movie based around the Pink Floyd track Another Brick In the Wall.
Rather than a remake of Sir Alan Parker's film, it's going to tell the story of the kids from the local school who performed on the track, along with their music teacher, Alun Renshaw. In October 2007, the BBC broadcast a documentary, "The Brick in the Wall Kids", which looked at their experiences, bringing the story up to date, reuniting some of them along with Renshaw.
Harries describes the proposed movie as "Dead Poets Society meets School of Rock." First-time writer Steve Thompson is writing the script for Left Bank and BBC Films, although Harries admits he hasn't got the rights to the song yet.
Our thanks to Stephen Humphries for the info.
