On Thursday night (September 22nd), the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles featured "An Evening With Nick Mason". Taking place in the Clive Davis Theater, Nick was joined on stage by executive editor of Yahoo! Music and former editor of CREEM, Dave DiMartino. I was at the Grammy Museum for the Nick Mason talk. Nick talked about a lot of things during the evening. He said the full immersion sets for DSOTM, Wish You Were Here and The Wall were based on the popularity of those records but at some point if there was enough interest they could do Immersion sets for other albums. He said the early stuff could be combined to one Immersion, and he has a demo disc at home of the stuff they recorded to enter a 'Battle Of The Bands' competition and that demo has 3 or 4 Syd songs and a blues jam on it. He noted that this would be the last time the Floyd catalogue would be released.

He talked of the great shame of not having anything on film or tape of many of the 70's concerts but did say he had just gone through some of 'the Southampton tapes' of a fan's bootlegs - the fan had died and his widow sent them on to Nick. He said the sheer wealth of the material is amazing and that this guy had practically every show PF had played on a bootleg. He loved the Division Bell tour, he also said he wished they had toured DSOTM longer as he doesn't feel they did enough touring - it was album, tour, album, tour in those days and feels the band could have developed better if they had taken more time.

Nick said he's meeting with Roger next week. Regarding a reunion he said it would never happen for money but in a Live 8 situation or something similarly positive he feels it could happen, even though David says no. Nick said "He said that before Live 8 and look what happened!". It was a great night.
