Bromel Club flyer

Pink Floyd performed at the Bromel Club on 19th April 1967 and 24th May 1967. Typically, at the time, they were performing the likes of Interstellar Overdrive, Candy and a Currant Bun, Pow R Toc H, Matilda Mother and Arnold Layne.

The venue, part of the Bromley Court Hotel, in Bromley, Kent, was also host to the likes of Acker Bilk, David Bowie and the Manish Boys, Eric Clapton and Cream, and Jimi Hendrix who started his "Experience" tour at the hotel before playing the nearby Chistlehurst Caves. The flyer to the left is typical of those issued at the time, with a schedule of their upcoming shows.

BD visitor Richard Busby went to the first of the two Floyd concerts, the April show, and shares his memories of the show here. "I went with a friend from school. I was 16. It was my first 'proper' gig. What I remember is there were about 120 / 150 people there. There was plenty of room for more. I think the Move concert [which followed on a slightly later date] had more people attending! And yes Floyd far far superior!

"They had the projector with the slide show about 25 feet from the stage to the left of the room (facing the stage). I think the bar was to the right of the room.

"The concert went well. They played Arnold Layne and most if not all of the songs (if I remember properly) from the first album. I think Syd behaved well. I certainly don't remember anything going wrong or being disjointed in any way. I will wrack my brain for other memories. Sorry it is not more memories (currently) but it was nearly 49 years ago!

"I [also] remember then seeing them at The Brighton Dome and various other venues..."
