As many of you are aware, David
Gilmour will be concluding his current tour by playing a special show
at the Gdansk Shipyards, in front of a huge crowd of 100,000 - and we
are giving away a pair of tickets to this historic concert!

COMPETITION NOW CLOSED - a BD
visitor from Zurich, Switzerland was drawn but at the last minute, due
to personal circumstances, had to relinquish the tickets. The tickets
were therefore awarded to the second drawn person - Emilia Mozdzierz,
who lives in Wielun, Poland.
The show falls on August 26th,
the day that commemorates the 26th anniversary of Poland's 1980
revolution, where nationwide strikes led to the eventual fall of
communism, and the Solidarity trade union was founded.
David and the rest of the band
will perform on a special, 18 metre tall stage, with the aid of 32
tonnes of equipment. Above the stage there will be six large screens,
that David's own website reveals will be used in a different way from
normal. "Usually multiple screens at concerts all have the same,
edited, feed – similar to a TV show; in Gdansk each screen will only
cover one musician from the player's own dedicated camera, so each
musician will be on one screen all the time. This may be a first, and
it will certainly allow those at the back of the crowd to focus on
anything happening onstage at any time."
Tickets are naturally selling
incredibly quickly, but thanks to Janek and the organisers - Foundation
Gdañsk - we had a pair of tickets in sector A, which is right in front
of the stage, to give away to one lucky Brain Damage visitor!
You needed to answer the following questions correctly:
-
Who was the first leader of Solidarity?
-
How many FULL shows will David have performed at the conclusion of this tour?
-
Are you able to travel to Gdansk for the show on August 26th?
and then email your answers to a
special mailbox by 11:59pm (UK time) on August 23rd. Please note that
no correspondence will be entered into, and that the competition
mailbox is unmonitored - entries are being checked on August 24th, a
winner picked at random by an independent party, and the winner
announced here shortly after.
YOU MUST INCLUDE FULL CONTACT
DETAILS, AND ALSO BE AVAILABLE TO TRAVEL TO THE CONCERT. It will be
your responsibility to arrange for travel to and from the concert, and
any other costs such as accomodation. The prize is purely a pair of
tickets to the show.
Good luck to all of you entering this competition, and our thanks to Janek for his generosity!
UPDATE: this competition is now closed, and the winner picked from a bulging postbag!
