Warner Music GroupThe first steps in a new home for Pink Floyd now appear to have been taken. It was reported today that Warner Music Group have purchased EMI's Parlophone Music Group from Universal for $765 million. The deal includes Parlophone, Chrysalis, Ensign and other labels along with related EMI European subsidiaries and included the catalogues and contracts for Coldplay, Pink Floyd, David Guetta, Iron Maiden and others. As part of the Universal takeover, Pink Floyd were included in PMG which took some people by surprise, as the implication (and news reports at the time) called them a Parlophone act.

EU regulators stipulated that the aspects above were to be sold off elsewhere as part of their approval of Universal Music Group's purchase of EMI, and they (the EU regulators) must also approve this new deal. Universal will retain EMI's Capitol and Virgin labels which includes The Beatles and Katy Perry.

Needless to say, we'll be keeping a close eye on this development, and will let you know as an when things are all confirmed, be it with Warner or another company.
