This Christmas on BBC TV, the Live 8 concerts that occurred in July are analysed in a two-part documentary, which includes the headlining reunion of Pink Floyd with Roger Waters.

Live 8
The first part, "It Was Twenty Years Ago Today", shows how Bob Geldof, Bono and Richard Curtis pulled together nine concerts with over a hundred top-selling artists in less than three months, with exclusive behind the scenes footage of the run-up to the event and in-depth interviews with Live 8's all-star cast.

The film reveals how Geldof persuaded Pink Floyd to bury the hatchet after 25 years and why an argument over The Killers threatened to tear the organising team apart.

The second, and concluding part, "A Bittersweet Symphony", shows how the event was designed to send world leaders the loudest of messages - that they must give more help to Africa. Includes musical highlights and interviews with Robbie Williams, Paul McCartney, Pete Townshend, Annie Lennox, and Bono.

After the London concert the focus shifted to Gleneagles, as activists waited to see if their voice had been heard. At that moment terrorists bombed London, throwing the G8 into disarray.

The documentary will be screened over two consecutive evenings, on BBC1. Part one airs on Tuesday 20th December, at 10:35pm, and is an hour long. The second part follows on Wednesday 21st, at 10:40pm, and is slightly longer at an hour and twenty minutes.

If you miss either part, the whole documentary is repeated as a single entity, on Sunday 1st January, at 1am, on BBC2 TV.

The BBC are also showing highlights from the Live 8 concert in London, on 28th December, between 10am and midday on BBC1.
