Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

We now know that Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are on their way, with the releases on May 2nd, and the cinema screenings shortly before. NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

Pink Floyd - Royal Mail stamps 2016
Pink Floyd - Royal Mail stamps 2016

The UK's Royal Mail today reveal images of a set of 10 stamps that will be issued to mark the time since Pink Floyd turned professional (at the start of 1967) and became the 'house band' of the London Underground movement of music and arts. The stamps are available to pre-order from today, May 26th at www.royalmail.com/pinkfloyd and to purchase from 8,000 Post Offices across the UK from July 7th, the official "on sale" date.

Six stamps feature iconic album covers: The Piper at the Gates of Dawn; Atom Heart Mother; The Dark Side of the Moon; Wish You Were Here; Animals and The Endless River. In 2014, The Division Bell was issued by the Royal Mail in a similar edition, but in the midst of a range of covers by different artists.

A further four stamps within a miniature sheet celebrate the live performances of the band. Arguably the most visually literate band of all time, as well as being one of the most successful, their live appearances were renowned. They were among the first groups to make extensive use of light shows and projection of films for their appearances, increasing in ambition over the decades.

The four images convey the experience of these live performances, from the appearances at the influential UFO Club, London in 1966 where they stunned audiences with their revolutionary, psychedelic light show; to the extremely ambitious staging for albums such as The Wall and the Division Bell tours.

The Royal Mail website are offering a variety of different editions, and special presentation items, such as First Day Covers, framed prints, and more - all destined to be very collectable items. Place your orders now through www.royalmail.com/pinkfloyd.
