The current edition of the Dutch progressive rock magazine iO-Pages contains the first of a two part dossier on former Pink Floyd frontman Syd Barrett.

The first part is subtitled The Rise And Fall Of 'Crazy' Diamond, covering the period from his childhood "till the moment LSD became a important part of his life. As a musician Syd is described as a limited guitar player who had a good ear for Bo Diddley, The Byrds and Frank Zappa".

The breakthrough for Pink Floyd is marked at October 11th 1966. Paul McCartney, dressed like an Arab, is in the London Roundhouse audience with Marianne Faithfull and Jane Asher. Pink Floyd turn out to be the figure head of the London Psychedelic movement from that moment.

In the article is Syd’s explanation about the name Pink Floyd came from a passing UFO. The use of LSD is part of his behavior and he is described as "a little bit strange".
