Roger Waters is amongst the performers taking part in the VH1 Save The Music Foundation's 10th anniversary gala, to be held in September, it was announced today.
The event will take place at the Lincoln Center in New York City, and other performers taking part will include Jon Bon Jovi and John Mayer.
Honorees at the September 20th event will include former President Bill Clinton, and his wife, Senator Hillary Clinton, alongside Mariah Carey, the organization's founder John Sykes, and NAMM, the International Music Products Association. The gala will recognise the contribution that these people have made to the Foundation, helping change children's lives for the better.
The VH1 Save The Music Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring instrumental music education in America's public schools, and raising awareness about the importance of music as a part of each child's complete education. Since 1997, the Foundation has provided more than $34million of new musical instruments to over 1400 schools in 80 communities, affecting the lives of more than 800,000 public school children.
More information can be found at VH1.com, where tickets for the gala are also available - through this direct link - but be warned that tickets aren't cheap for the event!
The gala - or parts of it, at least - may be televised on VH1 and should we get details of this, we will let you know.
