Italian newspaper La Stampa today published a new interview with Roger Waters in which he talks about recording not one, but two new albums!
On the eve of a press presentation in Rome, related to his forthcoming pair of live dates in Rome in November, Roger tells the reporter Marinella Venegoni that "Actually, I am working on two albums. One is politically themed, and one can consider it a continuation of the themes raised on 'Amused To Death'. The other is concerned with love. I'll be working on them as soon as I've finished working on 'Ça Ira'".
He talks of the genesis of the opera, and of the concerts coming up next month. When asked why Rome was chosen, he responds that "Rome chose me. Flavio Severini, artistic director of "Music for Rome", has always been a fan of my work." He also mentions that Bonn, in Germany, has expressed an interest in staging the work.
He also expresses his thanks that the Live 8 reunion gave him the opportunity to speak with David Gilmour, and work with the band again, calling it "truly beautiful; we can have differing points of view, but we don't need agreement on these in order to play together".
