Roger Waters "Ca Ira" news in Mojo Magazine Print E-mail

Former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters features in the news pages of the March 2005 issue of the UK's well-respected music magazine, Mojo.

The magazine (which is in shops now, and features Bob Marley on the cover), talks about Roger's current workloads. Firstly, it talks of Ca Ira, his long awaited opera of which excerpts have been performed live at the Royal Albert Hall in London, and at the Maltese EU entry celebrations.

It reports that Roger delivered the final tapes to Sony in mid-January (with Waters expressing his relief at finishing the project with "Thank God!"). Brain Damage was told by a source in December that Sony had extended the deadline until the end of January for these to be delivered. The majority of the piece was complete, with minor tweaks and atmospheric sound effects to be finished.

The 100-minute, three-act piece featuring five solo parts and children's and adult choruses, will be released in French and English language versions later this year. Waters said it is "about revolution in general and the potential for human beings to evolve. I wouldn't dream of taking it out live... perhaps one of the big [opera] companies might include it in their repertoire."

The report then talks of his next rock album, due in 2006, and Waters says that he is "halfway through [it]. I've recorded a lot of songs; the record will probably be very political."

The magazine appeared on the shelves this week in the UK, and is also available in selected countries as an import.
