Further to yesterday's news item about the forthcoming EU entry festivities in Malta on Friday, which includes the world premiere of selections from Ca Ira, by former Pink Floyd front man Roger Waters, we now have a little more information for you.
Firstly, the organisers have confirmed that Roger is now not appearing in Malta after all. Whilst the
performance of Ca Ira was always due to be a playback from the finished recording, Roger was looking
likely to appear for interviews on the island. We now know this not to be the case, sadly.
More TV stations have committed to the broadcast, which means that Roger's fans now have a bigger chance of catching the performance and (what promises to be) stunning light show. The latest stations to confirm the broadcast, scheduled for midnight Central Europe Time (CET), are TV5 in France, ARTE across Europe (including France, Germany), and NOS (The Netherlands). More stations are expected to carry the broadcast, if only as a live news item. Organisers and the EBU (European Broadcasting Union, who are
handling the broadcast) expect an eventual audience of 1 billion...
Our thanks to all who have submitted information - in particular, Kees Nijpels, and Zvia Admon (from the Pink Floyd forum in Israel). A report of the event will follow this weekend.
