Respected UK auction house Cooper
Owen are holding another of their Music Legends sales, which features a
mouthwatering array of rare Pink Floyd posters and other goodies.
The sale will take place at Sir
George Martin's AIR Studios in London on the 30th November 2006. In
terms of Floyd stuff, the sale includes rare British, Dutch and
American posters, from 1967 to the early 1970s. These range from the
early boxing style concert posters to the more evocative psychedelic
posters advertising the Happenings associated with the band. Also in
the collection are programmes for their 1971 Garden Party concert that
took place at the Crystal Palace Bowl in London and the Bath Festival
where they lined up with other seminal artistes such as Led Zeppelin
and Frank Zappa in 1970.
Other featured lots include a
rare psychedelic hand painted, jacket designed by Mick Jagger’s brother
Chris for John Lennon; a super rare Beatles signed Sgt Peppers gatefold
album sleeve; John Lennon’s grey button down collar shirt, given to a
fan at the end of the bands Australian Tour in 1964; a tambourine
unusually signed by Marc Bolan and T-Rex for the notorious Kray
Brothers; amongst other things!
For the poster collectors, there
is a huge collection of fantastic vintage posters from many iconic
bands including not just Pink Floyd, but the Rolling Stones, Rush and
the Sex Pistols, and underground designers such as Hapshash, Oz, and
the Fool as well as a great selection of US posters.
Together with rare recordings,
photographs with copyright, presentation awards, instruments, signed
items and much more this is an auction not miss.
