Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

We now know that Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are on their way, with the releases on May 2nd, and the cinema screenings shortly before. NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

Qubec prepares for Roger Waters The Wall Live tour closing epic Print E-mail

Roger Waters - Quebec 2012 concert posterIn around six hours time, the concluding show on the 2012 Roger Waters The Wall Live tour, being held in Québec City, will take place. Excitement levels for this show seem to be exceeding all others on the 2010-2012 tour, going by reaction we've seen so far. Featuring an 800 foot wide wall, it will be the second biggest outdoor production of The Wall ever, eclipsed just by the 1990 concert in Berlin following the reunification of Germany. That saw well in excess of 350,000 fans witness the show (that figure was the limit of the German authorities ability to count the ever-growing crowd). Coincidentally, and as the concert poster to the left notes [click the thumbnail], both shows take place on the same day, just separated by 22 years.

Tonight's show will have more than 70,000 fans in the audience, and their wristbands have got RFID technology built in, to link attendees' wristbands to their Facebook accounts. This process will allow them to post a message from Amnesty International and Roger Waters during the concert.

Being in a public place, preparations for the concert have been not exactly hidden from public gaze, and thanks to BD visitor Frédéric Vandois we have a wide range of great pictures of the staging and wall being built, which you can view over at the Brain Damage Facebook page.

The local press have been giving the concert a lot of coverage, unsurprisingly. Le Journal de Québec have posted stories here, and here; La Presse has posted lots of articles, which can be seen here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here. Finally, Voir Québec also posted a story in the last day or so. Our thanks to Cédric Guillot and Ed Lopez-Reyes for these links.

We've got a few kind people on site at the concert, so make sure you check back for our coverage of the show...
