The Nights of WonderWith today marking the 25th anniversary of Pink Floyd's concert in Venice, in front of not just the gathered masses there, but an estimated worldwide audience of 100 million watching the television broadcast, it is an appropriate day to update you on The Night Of Wonders which has just opened.

The exhibition, being held at Spazio Porto, the former church of Santa Marta in Venice - offers rare photos, videos and collectibles relating to this concert. At the weekend, the opening included some special guests - director Adrian Maben, along with Fran Tomasi, promoter of the Floyd concert in the lagoon in front of St Mark's Square 25 years before, and one of the driving forces behind The Pink Floyd Exhibition - Their Mortal Remains.

As you'll see from these pictures, supplied by president of the Cultural Association Floydseum Alberto Durgante, the opening saw a further guest appearance - a large inflatable pig welcomed the attendees for the ribbon cutting. As Alberto told us, many visitors enjoyed the exhibition, composed of a lot of photos and memorabilia from the 1989 tour, the Verona 1989 gigs, and, most prominently, the Venice concert. In addition, there is a section concerned with the David Gilmour gigs in Venice, 2006.

Alberto said that the photos collected from all over the world from fans and from famous photographers like Guido Harari, Andrea Pattaro, Marco Sabadin, Giò Alajmo and Bob Hassall, looked "really fantastic". The photos are presented with indepth press reviews from the newspapers of that era plus personal memories of fans and famous people like Fran Tomasi, the Pink Floyd, the McBroom sisters. Also present are works of some famous Italian artists like "The hammers" by Marco Lodola and "The division bell" and "The wall screaming" by Stefano Bressani. The old dirty and famous "Pink" from the original Wall tours of 1980/81 is also present alongside some great gems such as Gerald Scarfe's original cells and Storm Thorgerson signed prints.

The exhibition is open every day between 10am - 6pm, until October 26th. More information at Floydseum.org.
