Italian newspaper "La Repubblica", in collaboration with Italian magazine "L'Espresso", will release a multi-CD compilation dedicated to 50 years of rock music with over 200 songs in total. Each CD will be on sale at 5,50 euros each (plus the newspaper or magazine price), and include Pink Floyd tracks amongst the other classics present.
Volume 1 - "Canzoni in rock" ("Songs in rock"), on sale from today, includes Roger Waters take on "Wish you were here" from his "In The Flesh" live album, while on Volume 4 (due next month) - "I suoni degli anni settanta", ("Seventies Sounds") you'll find "Another Brick In The Wall (part 2)". Italian TV networks are broadcasting adverts for this set of releases, and these spots use "Another Brick".
The cover of Volume 4 (shown to the right) includes a drawing of Roger based on his "look" in the seventies and is at least as good as some of the other cover pictures. Looking at the other covers shown on the promotion's special website there are some "interesting" artistic impressions - we had some debate here before recognising the Genesis drummer Phil Collins!
Our thanks to Nicola over at the Italian Hey You site for the information...
