Our US and Canadian readers will be delighted to know that the "Pink Floyd & Syd Barrett Story" will be hitting their stores on Region 1 DVD next month! The DVD, which features all-new cover art, shown to the right, features an extra bonus chapter not included on the European or Australian release of this great documentary.

The cover was designed by acclaimed British artist Mark Wilkinson (who produced covers for the likes of Marillion, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and many others). Mark recently said of getting the assignment, "Whenever I'm asked what my dream job would be, in the past I've always said something for Pink Floyd as they were my favourite band and the nearest I came to experiencing fandom way back in the late 60's when I was fan club member 425!

"I saw Pink Floyd many times then and have continued to love (most) of their work ever since. Imagine my insane delight to be asked to paint a portrait of Syd for a DVD sleeve for 'The Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd Story'.

"I was also asked to create a montage for the inner sleeve and had this been 6 years ago I would have still had all that fan club stuff! But I sold a lot of it to a collector to finance the purchase of an Apple Mac to keep me afloat. I was broke at the time goddammit, an affliction most artists experience at odd times in their careers. I bitterly regret making that decision now of course! So I've had to beg, borrow and steal from friends who weren't so rash and still have some of their collections intact!"
