Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

A very happy 2025 to you all - and let's hope that there's some interesting Pink Floyd-related activity on the horizon. This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, has now been released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates were announced, and these have thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA - see all the confirmed and now completed David Gilmour concert dates here. We're eager for your views on each of the shows, and really welcome comments, reviews, pictures or anything else you'd be willing to share with the Floyd community - [email protected] is the address to use - thank you!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue. Don't forget that there's the live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Finally, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

Pink Floyd scored Zabriskie Point on DVD Print E-mail

Antonioni's classic Zabriskie Point, which famously enlisted the help of Pink Floyd to provide music for the score, is receiving its long-awaited release on DVD this month... but with a slight snag.

Zabriskie Point
Antonioni's classic film
Zabriskie Point
Stories from the recording sessions are legendary, with the band indulging in fine food and wines, before strolling down to the studios, producing music that was described by Antonioni as "beautiful...but too sad!"

Some excellent music was produced during the sessions, and many of the takes have since been released on an expanded edition of the soundtrack album. There are also some unofficial releases with further takes.

In the end, the most memorable track in the film is "Come In Number 51, Your Time Is Up" - a version of Careful With That Axe Eugene that is used to great effect at the explosive finale to the film.

For those who want to take (another) look at the film, it is being released in Italy on January 27th. It will be sold with that week's edition of L'Espresso, an Italian weekly magazine. This link to the L'Espresso website gives more details of the promotion.

"'68 e dintorni" is the name of the series, looking at classic movies, that Zabriskie Point will be released as part of. The DVD will NOT be available elsewhere.

Our thanks to our friend Nino Gatti, who runs an Italian Floyd fansite, for his help with this story.
