Pink Floyd production manager Robbie Williams joined a very exclusive
club on Monday night (February 5th) when he was presented with the
Lifetime Contribution Award at the TPI Awards 07 in London, hosted by
Suggs of Madness.
The awards, run by Total Production International magazine, were
staged at the Novotel London West in Hammersmith, West London, in a
"Swinging Sixties" themed event.
In front of a record-breaking 1,200 people from the live event
industry, Robbie was handed the award by Queen's Brian May, who gave an
impassioned speech about Robbie's 40 year career as well as making
light-hearted references to him sharing the same name as a young
upstart from Stoke-on-Trent!
Robbie joined Pink Floyd's road crew in 1973 and has remained an associate ever since.
The event also included special guest presentations from the likes
of Sir George Martin, legendary producer of The Beatles, and Jeff
Wayne, best known for his work on The War Of The Worlds.
