Our UK readers have a small feast of Pink Floyd coming up on radio and television over the next week.
This is a wrap up of what delights you have ahead of you...
Classic Albums - Dark Side of The Moon
The 2003 BBC Television programme, "Classic Albums", is getting a repeat run at the moment, and tonight, January 28th, the episode showcasing Dark Side Of The Moon is broadcast on BBC2 in the UK at 23:35hrs.
The fifty minute show, subsequently released on DVD (right) is a track-by-track look at the album, with all the band interviewed and performing key segments of the music in the studio, some 30 years later. There are also rare snippets of demos and live tracks, too. For those who have not seen it, it is essential viewing, only bettered by the feature-packed DVD that is now available.
BBC2 is available on terrestrial, cable, freeview and digital systems, and can be viewed in many European countries too (normally via satellite).
Stuart Maconie's Critical List, BBC Radio 2
Pink Floyd's legendary 1979 album, The Wall, is the focus of Stuart Maconie's BBC Radio 2 programme "Critical List", tomorrow, January 29th.
"Critical List" is a series in which Maconie suggests albums that should in the collection of every popular music aficionado. He casts his eye in this one hour programme on Roger Waters' acclaimed, semi-autobiographical masterpiece.
The programme airs at 20:30hrs GMT, and can be heard on FM radio, DAB Digital radio, Freeview,
NTL/Telewest/Sky Digital, or online via the BBC.co.uk website. After broadcast, the show will be available to listen to over the internet, on demand, for seven days.
John Griff, Planet Rock Radio
Every Saturday afternoon, digital radio station Planetrock play a classic album, chosen by listeners.
They aren't sure if it's a set up, but in the last couple of weeks they've had a mountain of requests for Piper at the Gates Of Dawn!
So, they are going to play the whole album, (over a 4 hour show) on Saturday February 5th. Mark Jeeves, over at Planetrock, told me: "This means we'll be playing Interstellar Overdrive, all of it, and I've done some research, but I can't find any other instance of being played in full on British radio for over 30 years. The last time was John Peels 'Perfume Garden', but not since."
If you are interested in checking out the show, it will be broadcast on The John Griff Show, between 14:00hrs and 18:00hrs GMT. Planetrock is available nationally on DAB Digital Radio, Sky Digital channel 861, NTL channel 880, Telewest channel 924 and the internet at WWW.Planetrock.Com.
