Pink Floyd narrowly missed out on the top spot in UK radio station Capital Gold's All-Time Top 500 Albums Chart as verified by the UK's official chart company.

Queen topped the chart with their 1981 album, 'Greatest Hits' with Pink Floyd's 'The Dark Side Of The Moon' coming in fifth place.

The chart, based on an album's chart positions and the numbers of week spent in the UK Top 75 album chart, was played out in full on the UK radio station on Easter Bank Holiday Monday (April 17th).

Along with 'The Dark Side Of The Moon' Pink Floyd scored another 4 entries in the chart.

To see which of Pink Floyd's albums made it into the Top 500, where they got to in the chart, and to see how everyone else did, go to www.capitalgold.com/top500albums. As a taster, though, the top ten are shown below...

Our thanks to Mario from Capital Gold for the info!

    1. Queen - ‘Greatest Hits’
    2. Meat Loaf - ‘Bat Out Of Hell’
    3. Simon And Garfunkel - ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’
    4. Fleetwood Mac - ‘Rumours’
    5. Pink Floyd - ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’
    6. Mike Oldfield - ‘Tubular Bells’
    7. Abba - ‘Gold - Greatest Hits’
    8. Dire Straits - ‘Brothers In Arms’
    9. Simon And Garfunkel - ‘Simon And Garfunkel's Greatest Hits’
    10. Bob Marley And The Wailers - ‘Legend - The Best Of Bob Marley And The Wailers’

The chart has been compiled using a pro-rata points formula based on a No. 1 album receiving 100 points for each week at the top. Points for all other positions vary based on the size of the chart for a particular week. Bonus points are also given for each week an album is at number one.
