The latest issue (cover date May 2004) of the UK's Classic Rock Magazine features a couple of items of interest to Pink Floyd fans. Firstly, there is a whole page review of the 2004 remaster of The Final Cut.

The review, accompanied by a picture of Roger Waters looking pensive, is generally favourable, with some reservations. "Listening afresh to 'The Final Cut', there's no denying that Waters's boldness resulted in a powerful piece of work. True, the album's constant poking at raw nerves makes for a difficult listen, but then why should a heart-felt meditation on war and death be easy to stomach?"

Also in the same issue, is a news item referring to, firstly, the repackaged Syd Barrett Radio 1 sessions (review on this site shortly), and secondly, to the rumoured release of six Pink Floyd albums on the Columbia label on September 23rd. The remastered albums - Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall, A Collection Of Great Dance Songs, The Final Cut, and A Momentary Lapse Of Reason - are all said to be in deluxe packaging including all the original LP artwork and new photographs.

However, Brain Damage recently contacted EMKA, the band's management, about this rumour, and they knew nothing about it. On our behalf, they looked into the rumour, contacting Columbia, but believe that this is an old press release from some years ago that has resurfaced erroneously.

The magazine also has a four page feature on Roy Harper, which includes a couple of brief mentions of Pink Floyd, and pictures of his work with the band at Knebworth in 1975, and in the studio for Wish You Were Here, in the same year.

The magazine is now available in the UK, and in selected other countries as an import.
