Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 25th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, has now been released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates were announced, and these have now begun, thrilling crowds in Brighton, England and Rome, Italy - see all the confirmed David Gilmour concert dates here. We're also eager for your views on each of the shows, and really welcome comments, reviews, pictures or anything else you'd be willing to share with the Floyd community - [email protected] is the address to use - thank you!

Sadly, the European dates for the Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour have come to their end. The gigs revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue. Don't forget that there's the live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Finally, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

Pink Floyd: Giants of Rock book coming soon Print E-mail

Pink Floyd: Giants of Rock book by Glenn PoveyPublished on March 3rd by Carlton Books is 'Pink Floyd: Giants of Rock'. Written by Glenn Povey, it is an updated and expanded version of 'Treasures of Pink Floyd' which appeared in late 2012. Glenn was the creator of Brain Damage magazine (the forerunner to this website) and author of essential books such as In The Flesh and Echoes.

'Treasures...' told the band's history with words, pictures and facsimile memorabilia. The book recounted every decade of the band's existence and every album they recorded, contained profiles of all five members and discussed the significant influence they had on music and culture across the world. We saw 'Treasures...' as a great companion piece to 'Echoes', expanding on some of the more visual content that 'Echoes' has alongside the concert listings and other detail. It's also an ideal book for the Floyd novice, hungry for more information on the band and its music.

This celebration of the visual side of Pink Floyd - a band for whom the visual aspect has always been a vital element of their being - has been expanded and updated with 'Pink Floyd: Giants of Rock', which brings the story up to date. There's no pull-out memorabilia in this edition, but despite this small change, the new edition should prove a great addition to your Floydian bookshelf.

You can preorder the book now, through the following direct links: Amazon UK, Amazon.com, Amazon Canada, Amazon France, Amazon Germany, Amazon Spain and Amazon Italy.
