Starting on May 19th, for seven consecutive weeks, the UK's BBC2 television channel broadcasts a major new series, taking us on a journey through "The Seven Ages of Rock" which explores the music that has "been the soundtrack to our lives, defining each generation since the 1960s, from the crackly 45 to MP3s."
As part of the show, Pink Floyd naturally receive a fair amount of coverage, including (we hear) rare pictures, footage, and some new interviews with various band members...
Each episode breaks down key tracks, providing a social context, and the focus on Floyd is included in the second episode - "Between Rock And an Art Place". The BBC note that "from the pop-art multi-media experiments of Andy Warholand the Velvet Underground to the sinister gentility of Peter Gabriel’s Genesis, this episode will trace the story of how artistic and conceptual expression permeated rock."
It's a fascinating looking series for anyone interested in music.
Our thanks to Keith from NPF, Simon, and Phil, for the info on this show.
