Pink Floyd documentaries on US radio Print E-mail

With peculiar timing (surely not to tie in with the forthcoming David Gilmour concerts in the US and Canada?!) US satellite radio station XM has got a feast of Floyd coming up. Their specialist rock station "Deep Tracks" (channel 40) is focusing on the band over the next few months, airing a 1970 BBC-recorded concert, and a six part documentary ("Echoes - The History Of Pink Floyd") about the band's history.

The documentary is not a new one, having previously aired as part of the Westwood One series - but still a great listen, and not to be missed if you've not heard it before.

Here's the lowdown on what's airing and when:

  • Saturday Jan 28 – 9.00pm ET – Pink Floyd ‘70 BBC concert
  • Sunday Mar 5 – 6.00pm ET – Echoes Part 1
  • Sunday Mar 12 – 6.00pm ET – Echoes Part 2
  • Sunday Mar 19 – 6.00pm ET – Echoes Part 3
  • Sunday Mar 26 – 6.00pm ET – Echoes Part 4
  • Sunday Apr 2 – 6.00pm ET – Echoes Part 5
  • Sunday Apr 9 – 6.00pm ET – Echoes Part 6

If you are not in the US, or not a subscriber to XM Radio, fear not - you can still listen in! Go to XMRadio.com where you can sign up for a free, three-day trial to listen via their website. Not enough to hear all six parts, unfortunately - you'd have to take out a full sub for that.

XM satellite radio programming can also be heard by subscribers to DirecTV. The Deep Tracks channel is heard on DirecTV Channel 829. Finally, the newest version of WinAmp comes with AOL Radio with XM. Once Winamp 5.1 is installed, open up the Media Library, and start listening to XM. For your free player, go to Winamp.com.

Our thanks to Graham Moore, Adam Ooten and Jeff Hecox for his help with this story.
