hipgnosis in formenteraRunning this week until Saturday (July 19th), Aubrey "Po" Powell from the legendary Hipgnosis team, is having an exhibition in the 'Sala Municipal de Exposiciones de Formentera' in San Francisco, Formentera, of some of the "most important album cover works" that he and his colleagues (which includes Storm Thorgerson) created. He is doing this exhibition "to give something back to Formentera; it's an exchange with the island" as he has now made it his home.

According to Po, Formentera has been a great inspiration to him since he spent time there in 1967 with Syd Barrett when he was living with the French painter Marc Tara on the island, which lead to him relocating there permanently in 1983.

Amongst the many covers on show, there will be three images on display with a specific influence from the island, including of course the windmill cover from More.

This Saturday (July 19th) is the final day and concludes the Flower Power festival of Formentera which is a grand day on its own. The exhibition is open from 11am to 2pm all week and there should be a final viewing on Saturday evening at 7pm (TBC).
