With David Gilmour's new album, On
An Island, already available in some European countries, released on
Monday in the UK and rest of Europe, and Tuesday in the US, we have
more news on radio broadcasts, and of our full review of the album. If
you want to know what we think of it, now you can find out!
An air of chilled contentment
seeps out of the third solo effort from the Pink Floyd guitarist.
Coming some twenty-two years after About Face, it is a distinctly
different proposition. Gone are throwaway tunes like Blue Light, and in
come deeply personal, family-centric meditations.
We've gone through the album
track-by-track, and you can now read our full review of On An Island
here on this site. We loved it, and think you will too.
With all the radio coverage,
mentioned elsewhere on these news pages, you should get a good taster
of various tracks from the album. We noted yesterday that US digital
station Sirius Satellite Radio will be devoting its The Vault channel
to David Gilmour and Pink Floyd, featuring music and interviews from
Monday 6th March to Friday 10th March. We now have more detail on that
for you.
Their wall-to-wall coverage
begins at 7am ET on the Monday, for a whole week. As part of their
coverage, the Vault channel will also broadcast an exclusive interview
with David, on Tuesday, March 7th. Gilmour will discuss his new album
track-by-track in the interview, which will be broadcast at 12 pm ET
and 6 pm ET. You can hear the interview by going to Sirius.com.
The album can be ordered through these special links: US/International, UK/Europe, Canada, France or Germany.
To order the vinyl edition, which will be in a specially designed gatefold sleeve:
Amazon UK, France, or Germany.
The vinyl edition will be released shortly after the CD version - as
yet we don't have the exact date, but you shouldn't have to wait too
long. A painstaking job is being taken with this edition, so should be
worth it!
