We reported last week on Nick Mason's brief tour of Italy, to promote his great new book "La prima autobiografia dei Pink Floyd" (the Italian language version of "Inside Out - A Personal History Of Pink Floyd").
As part of this, on April 27th, Nick took part in a live videochat from Milan. The interview, at 3pm
(Italian time) was webcast on www.rcslibri.it and it is now available to watch on demand, in Real Media format.
The interview lasts just over an hour, and is, in places, a fascinating listen with some unusual
questions and subjects raised. With the English/Italian translation, it is a bit halting in places, but still worth catching. The main page for the interview can be found here, and here's the links for the Realvideo streams themselves:
- For ADSL/Broadband connections
- For 56k modem connections
There are many topics covered - including his cars, digital music downloads, how the book came about, Syd Barrett, the chances of a reconciliation between Roger Waters and David Gilmour, and even talks of Roger's Ca Ira opera - and calls it "fantastic".
He talks about the release of PULSE on DVD, and apologises for it being "two years later than they'd hoped - this was due to disagreements over the format, contents, etc."
On receiving the question of unreleased material, Nick mentioned that it is one of the things that they will be looking at on his return to the UK - to see if there was anything that could be released.
Possibly the strangest question was when Nick was asked to compare himself and the other, past and present members of the band, to models of cars!
