Nick Mason has conducted a fascinating interview for an emerging digital distribution technology - the
podcast. The interview, part of his US promotion tour for "Inside Out: A Personal History Of Pink Floyd", is an in-depth look at a number of subjects, ranging from his favourite drummers, to the latest audio technologies.
Podcasts have been best described as an audio magazine, in a digital audio format. Despite the name, it
is not dependent on owning an iPod - any portable music player or computer with appropriate software can play podcasts, which are normally in MP3 format.
For this podcast, Nick spoke to the Fake Science Lab Report, who were reporting about the music industry in the digital age. He is one of the first major music industry figures to give an interview on an
independent podcast.
The podcast, called "Welcome to the Dark Side" can be downloaded through this link or by visiting the Fake Science website. The whole podcast is 45 minutes long, with Nick's segment (some 18 minutes long) appears 16 minutes into the podcast. Our thanks to Josh at Fake Science for letting us know about this interview.
