Come September 9th this year, it will be hard to avoid Nick Mason in many bookshops! Apart from "Inside Out - A Personal History Of Pink Floyd" (mentioned elsewhere on these news pages), a revised version of Nick's "Into The Red" book appears on the same day.
With the strapline "22 Cars That Shaped A Century Of Motor Sport", it is a look at some of the greatest vehicles from Nick's extensive collection, which is stored in London.
The book, co-written by Mark Hales, and published by Virgin Books, has been updated to include the racing version of the McLaren F1, one of, if not the finest performance road car in the world. It comes complete with an audio CD produced by Nick capturing the cars' distinctive engine sounds, and features specially commissioned photography throughout.
As the press release puts it: "Into the Red puts you behind the wheel of the last century's greatest sports and racing cars. Nick Mason of Pink Floyd has been acquiring and racing cars for over thirty years. With test driver Mark Hales, he has given the pick of his cars a no-holds-barred workout at Silverstone to find out how they compare under pressure. Feel the force of a Le Mans Porsche. Relish the challenge of a 1920s Bugatti. Savour the elegant performance of the Ferrari 250GTO. With a CD unleashing the power and glory of their engine sounds, Into the Red is the next best thing to being in the driving seat."
The hardback book features over 325 colour and black & white photographs on its 192 pages, and can be ordered through our special links as normal.
