Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

We now know that Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are on their way, with the releases on May 2nd, and the cinema screenings shortly before. NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

Nick Mason "Inside Out" interview - New York 1 TV Print E-mail
Written by Matt
Sunday, 08 May 2005

There's at least one thing still to look out for in the US, as a result of Nick Mason's appearances there to promote his great book "Inside Out - A Personal History Of Pink Floyd".

For those of you who live in or near New York City, make sure you keep checking on television station NY1 this week. At some point (and we don't yet know exactly when) an interview with Nick, conducted by Jay Lieberman, will be broadcast.

Jay, Executive Producer of Entertainment for New York 1, is a past contributor to Brain Damage, having written a review of one of the 1994 Division Bell concerts.

He told us: "The interview went great and Nick couldn't have been nicer. He discussed the making of the book, playing live, details of the recording of each and every album, his reconciliation with Roger, why "The Wall" will work on Broadway, the pros and cons of bring inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, and what the future holds... I also asked if they were to go out on the road again, would "Animals" material make the setlist."

We'll have full details of what was said once the interview has aired.

NY1 News is Time Warner's 24-hour newschannel in New York City. Available exclusively on Time Warner Cable, NY1 covers the city's five boroughs with more than 25 full-time reporters. As and when we get confirmed details of airtime and date, we'll pass them on.

Our thanks to Jay for all his help...
