Further to our previous news items about Nick Mason's long-awaited, and much anticipated, book about Pink Floyd, called "Inside Out - A Personal History", to be published by Weidenfeld & Nicolson (a division of Orion Books) on September 9th, we have been contacted by the publishers with an exclusive look at the full final cover, with a high quality version of the cover being sent to us.
The only other people who have had this are Mojo Magazine, who, as you've seen elsewhere on our news pages, were only able to share a very small representation of the cover.
To the right is the full cover (with a small watermark we needed to add), and it shows much clearer now the new artwork completed for the book by Storm Thorgerson's talented studio. Very similar to their work on the advertising materials for the Interstellar exhibition held at the end of last year, in Paris, France, this high quality reproduction now gives us a chance to see one of the details hidden in the shot - to the right of the mirror, you can spot someone who appears to be Nick Mason in full race suit and helmet (extracted and shown to the left of this text) - but is it?!
It is also now much easier to see some of the other detail from the cover - it is intriguing to see the cross section of the moon, in the mirror, showing it to be made of Swiss cheese!
We are hoping for some information from Storm's office about the cover. As yet we don't know the exact location of the shoot, nor who's house it is lurking in the middle-left of the picture.
As soon as we have more information on this book, we will of course keep you posted. Our thanks to
Elizabeth at Weidenfeld & Nicolson/Orion for her continued help and generosity...
