Wendy Bannister, wife of the legendary concert promotor Freddy Bannister, has contacted us with details of another box set that they have put together especially for Pink Floyd fans - and they've given us one to give away to one lucky Brain Damage visitor!

Pink Floyd & others at Bath Festival, 1970

Because so many Pink Floyd fans asked them whether it was possible to have a set that includes both the Floyd 1970 Bath Festival CDs and the Floyd's 1975 Knebworth CDs, they have brought out a set that combines both festivals. These sets are individually number, and hand signed by Freddy Bannister.

Knebworth Festivals: There Must Be A Better Way

The older sets have already proved good investments for some - one of the Knebworth sets bought after seeing it mentioned on our site was sold for double the price paid, a couple of months later!

UPDATE: Wendy has told us that the set now includes a copy of the 27 minute long DVD of Pink Floyd performing Atom Heart Mother at the 1970 Bath Festival. She notes that "although a little grainy it is very viewable and the sound is very good." For those frustrated by the tiny, unwatchable clips in the Classic Rock productions DVD that came out last year, this DVD sounds ideal. The prize winner and anyone ordering the set will get one of these.

The combined Bath and Knebworth set, priced at £59.99 (plus shipping) includes the following:

  • The programmes, flyers and tickets from the following festivals:
      1970 Bath Festival
      1975 Knebworth Festival
  • A handbill advertising Pink Floyd's appearance at Malvern in 1967
  • 12 photographs from the 1975 Knebworth festival
  • A 330 page book on the backstage stories and problems promoting a decade of festivals
  • 6 CDs and 2 DVDs, which they give as a gift with the set and includes the following:
    • 1 x 75 mins CD of Pink Floyd live at Bath, including their premiere of Atom Heart Mother with full choir. Before the Bath Festival it was known as The Amazing Pudding
    • An improved re-mastered 1975 Pink Floyd Knebworth 2 CD set
    • And a choice of three CDs from the following:
      • A 3 CD set live from the 1970 Bath Festival with Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Johnny Winter, Jefferson Airplane, Frank Zappa, Steppenwolf, Santana, The Byrds, Canned Heat, John Mayall, Donovan, Hot Tuna, Country Joe
      • 1975 Steve Miller 1CD
      • 1975 Captain Beefheart. 1CD
      • 1975 Roy Harper 1 CD
      • 1978 Genesis 2CDs
  • A 50 mins DVD of various Knebworth festivals between 1974 – 1979, including Genesis with interviews and the sound check, The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Led Zeppelin
  • A DVD from Lincoln 1971 with Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee sitting in the back of the limo on the way to Lincoln being interviewed by the BBC and finishing off by giving an impromptu concert. Also on the DVD James Taylor, Tom Paxton, etc. This DVD is very rare - the BBC have not kept a copy.

Wendy Bannister has kindly put aside the very first set - number 1 - from this hand-numbered limited edition of 200, for a lucky Brain Damage visitor. To enter the competition, and win this very special prize, you needed to answer the following questions correctly:

  1. What type of warplane was seen at the start of Pink Floyd's 1975 show?
  2. Why did John Alldis take the stage at the 1970 Bath Festival?
  3. How many Knebworth Festivals were there in total?
Entries were accepted until midnight GMT on May 22nd, with the winner currently being picked from all the qualifying entries.

The winner will be notified by May 26th, and their name given on this site.

COMPETITION NOW CLOSED AND THE WINNER IS... Herve Denoyelle, from France. Well done, Herve!

The very best of luck to you all...and thanks to Wendy Bannister for the great prize!
