Classic Rock October 2011 The new issue of the UK's Classic Rock Magazine (out today, September 14th, cover date October 2011) features a look back at the 1989 concert Pink Floyd held in the lagoon at Venice. Televised across the world, it featured an abridged set, performed on a floating stage. The whole event was, to use an understatement, interesting, with many stories flying around about the conditions in Venice with thousands upon thousands of fans packed in like sardines, rumours of the ancient buildings suffering, gondoliers protesting, and much more.

The three page article, which includes some nice pictures of the event, features fascinating commentary from the likes of David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Guy Pratt, Fran Tomasi (the promoter), the mayor of Venice at the time, Antonio Casellati, Neil Warnock (the band's agent) and Robbie Williams (tour director) all revealing how the show came together, and the pressures they were under during the event.

Elsewhere in the magazine, which boasts a guest editor of Alice Cooper, there are features on Jimi Hendrix, Guns'n'Roses, Hawkwind, and Led Zeppelin's manager, Peter Grant. Classic Rock is available across the UK, and individual issues can be purchased online for despatch worldwide via the retail arm of their publishers.
